Audio Guide App

We also offer an audio guide application for you to visit the town's Vories architecture on your own, including the Waterhouse Memorial Hall.

To use the program, first install the app on your mobile device (iPhone or Android). With GPS function enabled, commentary about the architecture will play automatically when you visit designated Vories buildings. You can adjust the audio speed, and replay all or parts of the audio. Enjoy the architecture tour at your own pace with this app!

How to Use

STEP 1: Download the cocokiku app

To access the audio tour, please install the free audio guide app cocokiku on your smartphone.

On your smartphone, tap the link below to download and install cocokiku. Once installed, open the app and make sure you can play the sample tour.

STEP 2: Accessing the Tour

The audio tour is available in two formats: Guide Cards and Download Version.

[Guide Cards]

  • The Guide Card set includes a card printed with a QR code to install the audio tour app, three historical photographs of Omi-Hachiman from the Taisho era, one vintage map, and three original illustration cards featuring Vories architecture. It also makes a charming souvenir from your architectural walk.
  • The Guide Cards can be purchased at tourist information centers in Omihachiman (Hakuunkan and the station office), the Vories Memorial Hall, the front desk of the Omihachiman Machiya Club, or through the Machiya Club’s online shop “Hachiman Biyori.”

  • The Download Version can be purchased directly on your smartphone from the Machiya Club’s online shop “Hachiman Biyori.”
  • After purchase, you can download the “Omi-Hachiman Vories Architecture Audio Tour Instructions” (PDF file).
  • On your smartphone, tap the tour URL (Japanese/English) shown in the instruction PDF to load and begin the tour.

Guided Tours by Local Experts

The Vories Architecture guided tours are available by the Omihachiman Tourist Association, the Omi Brotherhood Public Interest Incorporated Foundation, and a local volunteer guide group. In this tour, you'll visit Vories designed buildings of the Omihachiman area with a guide, including the Waterhouse Memorial Hall.
